"Electrical Appliances For The Elderly" Program

Objective:

•  To improve quality of life of elderly
•  To prevent household accident of elderly
• To care for the abandoned elderly

Target Group：

Elderly reside in Hong Kong, Kowloon or New Territories

Prerequisite of beneficiary：

To be qualified for this program, elderly should be
•  Age 60 or above
• Having financial difficulties, eg. receiving monthly dole payment
• Living alone or living with spouse
• Unaided

Receiving Items：

Electric fan, rice cooker, electric water boiler/pot, radio, telephone set (with large number keys), TV set, refrigerator, washing machine, water heater etc.

Method of Application:

Applicants can contact St. James' Settlement through any social welfare organisations or parties.

Relevant Procedure：

St. James' Settlement (SJS) will examine the case of elderly → SJS will check the availability of item(s) being requested → SJS will send reply to relevant organization / party involved → SJS Volunteer workers can deliver and install the items for the elderly, if necessary.

The application is automatically terminated if：

1) Required items has been received by the elderly.
2) The items / services are rejected by the elderly.
3) Requested items or service are not being provided.

1. St. James’ Settlement will reply to case within 3 working days
2. Installation will be performed by legal contractors, such as professional plumber, electrical worker
3. St. James’ Settlement has Volunteers all over Hong Kong, Kowloon, New Territories and the Islands
4. Installation fee (eg. Purchase of material) can be exempted or minimized, if necessary
