MAKING A GIFT TO ST. JAMES' SETTLEMENT

Legacies and gifts are very important to St. James' Settlement. This will make sure that the work of St. James' Settlement continues for years to come.

There are five ways you can make a gift to St. James' Settlement:-

1. LEAVING YOUR RESIDUE TO ST. JAMES' SETTLEMENT

Once you have provided for your family and friends with specific gifts of money or items, St. James' Settlement will receive all or part of the residue of your estate. This is what is left when all the other gifts and other liabilities have been paid. If you would like to leave your residuary estate to St. James' Settlement, we suggest that you include the following wording in your Will:-

¡§I give all (or a [ % ] share ) of the residue of my estate to St. James' Settlement,
85 Stone Nullah Lane, Wanchai, Hong Kong, for its general charitable purposes and I direct that the receipt of the Treasurer or duly authorised officer shall be a valid and appropriate form of discharge.¡¨

2. LEAVING A SUM OF MONEY TO ST. JAMES' SETTLEMENT

If you wish to leave us a sum of money in your Will, we suggest that you include the following wording:

¡§I give to St. James' Settlement, 85 Stone Nullah Lane, Wanchai, Hong Kong the sum of ¡K. [amount in figures and words] to be used for its general charitable purposes and I direct that the receipt of the Treasurer or duly authorised officer shall be a valid and appropriate form of discharge.¡¨

3. LEAVING A SPECIFIC ITEM TO ST. JAMES' SETTLEMENT

If you wish to leave us a specific valuable object in your Will, for example, a flat, we suggest that you include the following wording:-

¡§I give to St. James' Settlement my ¡K [ insert full description of item ] belonging to me at the date of my death and I direct that the receipt of the Treasurer or duly authorised officer shall be a valid and appropriate form of discharge.¡¨

4. NAMING ST. JAMES' SETTLEMENT AS THE BENEFICIARY OF YOUR LIFE POLICY

If you wish to make us the beneficiary of your life insurance policy, please discuss this with your insurance agent or your solicitor.

5. GIFTS AND DONATIONS GENERALLY

If you would like to have the pleasure to make a gift to us during your lifetime or to become a monthly donor, we would be very pleased to hear from you. Please contact Heidi Chang whose details are set out below.
