Q1. HOW ARE THE DONATED MONEY BE UTILIZED?

Answer:

As a social service organization, the Settlement has initiated different new services to serve the needy cases in the society, we provide a series of charity projects in innovative ways for the less fortunate groups which depend mainly on public donation, namely: 1. People's Food Bank project to provide food assistances to people in need on a short-term basis and to relieve hunger; 2. Street Sleeper Services to render assistances of short term residence and outreaching services for street sleepers in Hong Kong island; 3. Funeral Navigation Service to help the elderly/people in need (e.g. singleton elderly, elderly/people with weak support network, chronically ill patients) to formulate the funeral plan and carried out the afterlife arrangements when they passed away; and 4.Community-oriented Mutual Economy Programme - the pioneer community project in Wan Chai where people trade goods and services with each other by using a local currency (hours credit coupon) like a barter system to alleviate the poverty in the community during the economic downturn. Moreover, donations will also be allocated to our various services including elderly services, youth services, services for mentally handicapped and operation cost.
