The St. James' Settlement Jockey Club Upcycling Centre (UPCC) has previously produced trophies for the "Caring Employer" Medal Presentation Ceremony 2025, providing an opportunity for people with disabilities (PWDs) to showcase their vocational skills. To raise public awareness about the diverse talents of PWDs, UPCC invited Ms. Bonde Sham to visit the Jockey Club Endeavour Workshop + Albert Wu Rainbow Workshop, where she filmed a visit video showcasing the professional abilities of PWDs in woodworking, sewing, and upcycling. The video focuses on "Diverse Abilities × Inclusive Workplace × Upcycling", aiming to enhance societal understanding of the work capabilities of PWDs and to encourage businesses to foster inclusive and sustainable work environments. The video will be broadcast on the "岑樂怡和你Green" YouTube channel today (16 February).
During her visit to the UPCC, the host Ms. Bonde Sham learned that 215 trophies were produced for the "Caring Employer" Medal Presentation Ceremony 2025, with the full participation of 24 PWDs. These trophies were upcycled from over 300 recycled wooden wine boxes, processed through six key steps: recycling, dismantling, laser cutting, sanding, UV printing, and screw assembly. Each trophy showcases the excellent work skills of the participating PWDs while illustrating how the "Upcycling × Inclusion" concept is implemented in the production process.
On the day of filming, PWDs from the UPCC demonstrated various procedures to Ms. Bonde Sham, including dismantling, sanding, screw assembly, and sewing. Ms. Bonde Sham even joined them in floral arrangement, creating beautiful Chinese New Year festive floral decorations together. The video highlights the remarkable stability, precision, and concentration exhibited by PWDs when provided with clear guidance, appropriate tools, and adequate training support, reflecting their capability to engage in the production process and create marketable products.
Through this video, we hope to further enhance public recognition and appreciation of the diverse abilities of PWDs and encourage more businesses to embrace inclusivity and provide sustainable employment opportunities for PWDs, allowing them to leverage their strengths and participate in society, fostering a culture of inclusion.

About St. James’ Settlement
Founded by the Rt. Rev. Bishop R.O. Hall of the Anglican Church in 1949, St. James’ Settlement began as a club for boys and girls in a temple in Stone Nullah Lane, Wanchai. It was then developed into a six-storey building on Kennedy Road in 1963 to provide diversified services, including children and youth services, elderly services and rehabilitation services. In 1987, the headquarters was opened in Stone Nullah Lane so that the scope of services could be further extended. Our first centre outside Wanchai (named Central and Western District Elderly Community Centre) was established in 1990. Since then, different service centres have been developed and most of them are located along the north coast of Hong Kong Island, from The Belcher’s in Western to Hing Wah Estate in Chai Wan. In recent years, in view of the society’s ever-changing needs, we have opened service centres in Kowloon and the New Territories. To date, our 143 service points are in operation across Hong Kong. Now, St. James’ Settlement served around 3.5 million person-times, and our target beneficiaries include children, teenagers, families, the elderly and people with disabilities.
About St. James’ Settlement Jockey Club Upcycling Centre
Established by the funding of The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust, St. James’ Settlement Jockey Club Upcycling Centre, aims at promoting environmental protection and a green lifestyle by creating upcycled products through encouraging corporations and organizations to donate used or leftover materials. Local designers are invited to make use of those waste materials for designing new products and to get persons with disabilities involved in producing upcycled products. The Centre also arouses public awareness of green living through upcycling workshops, exhibitions and other events and activities.
